the healing power of homoeopathy

There are many theories about how homoeopathy works: memory of water, electromagnetic frequencies, quantum physics even helps to understand it. This is how I like to understand it…

Every atom in every molecule vibrates at its own frequency. When you put together all the atoms in all the molecules of your body you arrive at one big, completely individual vibrational frequency. When you are out of balance or unwell your vibrational frequency changes slightly in any manner of different ways.

The homoeopathic remedy is a natural substance that is so dilute that no material substance is left of the original material. The way is it prepared means that the vibrational frequency is amplified and simplified.

The homoeopath takes a very details case history in order to understand your individual state so that she can find a substance that matches the same symptoms (or frequency) as closely as possible.

Taking this carefully chosen remedy acts as a way of putting two very similar vibrational frequencies together. The homoeopathic remedy is stronger than the disease and very similar, so it cancels it out. The homoeopathic remedy produces a state in the patient which is artificial but incredibly close to the state they were in before. The remedy is only a temporary state so after a few hours/weeks/months it is overpowered by the person’s own natural, healthy vibrational frequency.

If you are musically minded you can think of two tuning forks for the same note. You hit one gently and then the next harder and hold them together. The louder, stronger note of the same frequency will cancel out the weaker one.

In contrast, conventional medicine aims to produce an opposite state to that which the body is producing in order to cancel out this change in vibration. However, you are then working againstthe body’s natural state, not withit. In this way the body will often continue to produce the same symptoms (or vibration), which often means as a consequence that the patient must continue to take the same medicine to afford the same relief. With homoeopathic treatment relief is gained by the body’s reaction to the remedy, not the remedy itself. This means that the body is healing itself and is generally more likely to be able to heal itself in the future.

‘Do I need to give up coffee?’
‘Do I need to change my diet?’
‘Do I need to change my exercise routine?’

There are many questions like those above that I am asked at the beginning of treatment.

I think that most often the question needs to be reflected back to the questioner…’What do you think?’ Even by having only a mild interest in any of the media focus on diet and exercise at the moment we can see that there are many inconsistencies and contradictions. One day it is bad for us. The next day it is the universal panacea, and can magically cure every problem under the sun.

I am not a dietician and rarely give any dietary or exercise advice. What I do say is have an awareness of what you need and what makes you feel better. If exercise makes you feel better then it is your responsibility to keep that up, likewise with diet and lifestyle. The awareness in itself if one of the best tools for health (I would even say its better than homoeopathy) but it isn’t easy and takes time. However, guilt over eating something bad for you or not exercising enough is much more harmful.

If you are honest with yourself then you are more than half way there.

As with many questions in homoeopathy the answer is not so simple.

Homoeopathy treats every person as a complete individual. This means that it is nearly impossible to say how quickly or how well anyone will respond to treatment.

Everyone responds to symptoms in a different way and consequently everyone responds to remedies differently.

The aim of homoeopathic treatment is to treat from within, at the cause of the problem rather than simply ‘fixing’ symptoms, which helps to make any improvement more permanent. As the cause of a problem has stronger roots in some people than others this means that some people take longer to heal, some take no time at all.

Many patients will notice a change within moments of taking a remedy (often in more short term problems) whilst for others it may take a few weeks. A guide I like to give is that I would personally expect to see a marked improvement after three sessions if they are kept at 4-6 weeks apart. I have found from experience that spending more time initially allows for a greater improvement and thus subsequent appointments can be booked as you feel you need them.

Preventative healthcare is often the best way of keeping your health at an optimum. Where possible I recommend taking the time to do something (homoeopathic or otherwise) continually to boost your wellbeing, rather than waiting until you are unwell.

Please note the following are general advice and if I have prescribed a remedy I will often give special advice depending on your individual circumstances.

Centessimal Remedies - Pill form

* Please ensure you leave approximately 15-30 minutes before and after taking your remedy with no food, drink or flavours in your mouth. It is a good idea to leave more time before and after stronger flavours e.g. coffee, toothpaste, menthol, eucalyptus or cinnamon.

With some sensitive people the remedy can be antidoted by these substances, thus avoiding them can avoid confusing after-effects.

* Try not to touch the remedy (for the same reason as above). Either tip the remedy directly from the packet to your mouth, or use a clean spoon to remove the remedy from the packet.

* Allow the pillule to dissolve under your tongue or suck/chew on it as you prefer.

The remedies taste of sugar so this should not be unpleasant.

* Please keep any remaining remedies in a dark, odour-free place out of reach of children.

LM Remedies - Liquid Form

* Please ensure you leave approximately 15-30 minutes before and after taking your remedy with no food, drink or flavours in your mouth. It is a good idea to leave more time before and after stronger flavours e.g. coffee, toothpaste, menthol, eucalyptus or cinnamon.

With some sensitive people the remedy can be antidoted by these substances, thus avoiding them can avoid confusing after-effects.

* Unscrew the bottle and drop 2-3 drops under your tongue.

* Before your next dose empty the pipette into the bottle, tightly close the bottle and firmly bang the base of the bottle 8-12 times against the palm of your hand. You must do this before every dose, it increases the strength of the remedy by a fraction each time. It reduces the risk of having an intensification of symptoms and allows for a gentler and more effective treatement.

* Please contact me 1 week after starting your LM remedy. Part of why I have chosen this remedy for you is its flexibility. Depending on your reaction to the remedy we may need to increase or decrease your dose.

* Please keep any remaining remedies in a dark, odour-free place out of reach of children.
